15. What is meant by ‘real time navigation’?
|
 |
Real time navigation refers to the constantly updated position of your vessel
displayed on the digital chart. As your vessel moves, the displayed position
will be updated in ‘real time’. Your past track will also be displayed. Provided
the application is set to ‘vessel fixed’ mode, the chart will pan behind the
vessel, with the vessel remaining in the centre of the screen. This is achieved
within the Admiralty RYA Chart Plotter by taking a GPS signal (from a
compatible GPS device) and plotting the position, correctly adjusted to WGS84
datum (the GPS device must be set to WGS84 datum), on the displayed Admiralty
chart. Please note that no other device inputs (wind, depth, etc) can be
accepted by the application.
