Official Data You
Can Trust....
TotalTide uses a
powerful calculation algorithm with official
tidal data from the world's premier hydrographic
authorities to ensure highly accurate tidal
predictions.
|
|
Safe Port Entry
Calculations
Predictions are
enhanced by the calculation of periods for
safe port entry based on vessel draft and
masthead height. Results are presented clearly
in a simple diagram and summarised on a tidal
graph.
|
|
|
Global Tidal
Stream Information
TotalTide
calculates tidal stream predictions for over
3,000 tidal stream stations worldwide.
Real-time tidal stream rates and direction
predictions are overlaid on a detailed chart
display and updated every 60 seconds to
maximise situational awareness.
|
|
|
Comprehensive
Search Facilities
TotalTide's
sophisticated chart interface provides the
mariner with a full geographical search
facility. Fast text and coordinate-based
searches are also available to take users
directly to specific tidal information.
|
|
|
Option to
Customise Data to Trading Patterns
Standard and
secondary ports can be grouped and saved in
special user-defined files based on specific
routes or trading areas, meaning that
information retrieval is quick and easy.
Toolbars, screen layouts and views can be
customised to suit individual fleet or vessel
requirements.
|
|
Optimum Safety
and Functionality
TotalTide
contains all standard and additional
information included in Admiralty Tide Tables,
including Chart Datum Connections and tidal
levels for standard ports, plus periods of
daylight and nautical twilight, moon phases
and a springs and neaps indicator. Special
night and twilight display options ensure
optimum visibility at all times. |
|
|
Full Print and
Export Facilities
Tide prediction
results for periods of up to seven days can be
printed or exported in a range of formats
including MS Excel and ASCII for use in other
navigational and operational activities such
as passage planning. TotalTide's prediction
algorithm can also be used to calculate tides
from privately held harmonic constants.
|
|
Maximum
Flexibility
TotalTide offers
complete global coverage on a single CD. Split
into seven area sets, users can simply select
the areas required, and add to coverage at any
time. Instant access to additional areas can
be quickly and easily obtained in an emergency
situation by telephone, fax or email.
TotalTide includes a FREE second user
licence for back up purposes, meaning that
safety critical information is available at
all times in the event of a system failure. |

|
|
Annual Update
Service
The harmonic data
used in TotalTide is updated annually to
ensure accuracy of predictions. Whilst
TotalTide will continue to predict tidal
height and tidal streams indefinitely, the
UKHO recommends that users update area data
sets every twelve months in order to maintain
accuracy. Annual Updates can be purchased each
January from appointed Admiralty Distributors. |

Carriage of Nautical
Publications – Equivalent Status
"The UK Maritime &
Coastguard Agency (MCA) accept TotalTide as meeting the requirement to
carry the tide tables under the Merchant Shipping (Safety of Navigation
Regulations) 2002, which came in to force on 1st July 2002, on
the understanding that TotalTide is operated on a conforming computer
system, a permanent security key has been installed and the most recent
update has been applied" – MCA
This means
UK flagged vessels and other vessels navigating in UK waters can use TotalTide
instead of carrying paper tide tables onboard.
Please note, other non-UK
regulatory authorities may regard TotalTide as purely an aid to navigation
and not as an equivalent to the paper product. Further approvals are
pending.
