Weekly Notices to Mariners (NM's) providing updates to Admiralty Charts and Publications, have been provided free of charge to the maritime community for many years as part of UKHO's and it's distributors standard after-sales service.

However in recent years other media have been developed to provide an enhanced service and are being increasingly used:
	Complete bulletins of Notices to Mariners are now available, without subscription, on the UKHO NM website
	A searchable UKHO NM Web service is also now available.

In terms of Flag and Port Control requirements, all of these alternatives have been accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as meeting the carriage requirement for Notices, contained within Regulation 20 of the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention and the MS (Carriage of Nautical Charts and Publications) Regulations. This covers UK registered vessels navigating anywhere in the world, and non UK registered vessels whilst navigating within UK territorial waters.

To encourage use of these electronic services the UKHO have recently introduced a small fee (£2 per week) for the previously free of charge printed copy of the NTM.
