OUTFIT MANAGEMENT

The core activity of Thomas Gunn Navigation Services Ltd is our chart management service, which ensures compliance with ISM legislation through the maintenance of chart and publication folios. Please note, the only cost of this service is the actual charts and books supplied and any carriage required to cover delivery charges.

The above process is controlled by our bespoke NES software which currently monitors and controls supplies for several thousand ships and office libraries. This system has been recently updated and builds upon the experience gained in running the service for many years and recent advances in new technology. A major advantage of upgrading our system is improved operational efficiency and the ability to offer web based access to the data within our internal database.

The new edition service can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements and can also be extended to include other services such as electronic chart supply.

DIGITAL PRODUCTS

At Thomas Gunn Navigation Services we have a dedicated department trained in all aspects of digital products to assist with the transition from paper to electronic navigation.

The Digital Products Department can advise on the most appropriate products available to meet your particular requirements. Our scope of supply includes both hardware and software for the display of digital charts, supply of both official and un-official digital charts and nautical publications.

NTM's & TRACINGS

Thomas Gunn Navigation Services Ltd currently supply a large number of shipowner and ship managers with a regular notice to mariner and tracings service. These updates are available weekly but dispatched on an agreed frequency using the preferred carriage method as specified by the customer.

LOOSE LEAF SERVICE

A new value added service available to all Thomas Gunn Navigation Services customers - Corrected Loose Leaf Replacement Service to British Admiralty List of Lights and Radio Signals.

This service has been based around a page replacement system, which will dramatically reduce the time taken to perform the weekly updates to the Lights and Radio Signals. Use of this service will remove the need for the seafarer to cut and paste corrections from the Weekly Notices to mariners and provide additional time to perform other important tasks onboard the vessel.

EQUIPMENT REPAIRS

Our office contains a fully equipped repair centre for a wide range of nautical equipment including compasses/binnacles, clocks, barometers, loudhailers and lighting equipment. Our service department will be happy to inspect any piece of equipment and will then provide an estimate to carry out the necessary repairs. Assuming confirmation is provided, the work will be carried out to a high standard and in as short a time period as possible.

COMPASS ADJUSTMENT

Thomas Gunn Navigation Services Ltd employ two very experienced and fully qualified D.O.T. certified compass adjusters, who are available 24 hours a day to carry out onboard adjustment and service.

CHART CORRECTIONS

At our head office in Aberdeen we stock the complete world folio of Admiralty BA paper charts. These are kept fully corrected in line with the Notice to Mariner information by our fully trained chart-correcting department. This ensures our stock is sold containing the latest navigational safety information.

We also receive requests from a variety of sources to audit chart folios and correct these up to date as required. This process is handled on a case by case basis.

ECDIS TRAINING

We recognise the impact which the transition to ECDIS will have on the global marine industry and we are committed to a position in the forefront of that transition. Consequently we have embarked upon a bold program of innovation within our service portfolio, intended to provide our existing and future customers with the ultimate complete ECDIS service package.

Maritime Information Systems AS (MARIS) is a company at the forefront of ECDIS technology, who, with their Maris ECDIS900 provide a fully type approved ECDIS system complying with all the required regulations and resolutions of the IMO and various flag state authorities.

Mobile Marine Technology Ltd is a young company operated by experienced and highly qualified mariners, who specialise in providing CAT* capable training solutions within the marine industry.
