Admiralty Tide Tables
Admiralty Tide Tables detail the times and heights of high and low waters for over 230 standard and 6000 secondary ports in the UK and Ireland, Europe, the Indian Ocean, South China Sea and Pacific Ocean for each day of the year. The tables outline methods of prediction, the effect of meteorological conditions on tides and provide additional information on exceptional tidal factors in each area. The tables are available from Admiralty Distributors worldwide.
Admiralty Tidal Stream Atlases
Admiralty Tidal Stream Atlases display, in diagrammatic form, the major tidal streams for selected waters of north-western Europe, including direction and rate at hourly intervals. Graded arrows illustrate Mean, Neap and Spring tidal rates in tenths of a knot. There is also a diagram to help you calculate the tidal stream rate for a given date.
Admiralty Manual of Tides (NP120)
This is a largely mathematical, detailed description of tidal theory and its application to the analysis and prediction of tides and tidal streams.
Admiralty Tidal Handbooks (NP122 1-3)
These three volumes outline the Admiralty method of harmonic tidal analysis for long and short observation periods and include information on datums for hydrographic surveys.
List Of Radio Signals
The Admiralty List of Radio Signals series provides comprehensive information on all aspects of Maritime Radio Communications. The data is organised into six volumes, some divided into several parts for ease of handling. Each of the six volumes is presented in a user-friendly format with full colour photographs and diagrams.
List Of Lights
This series of books provides extensive information on all lighthouses, lightships, lit floating marks (over 8m in height), fog signals and other lights of navigational significance.
Other Publications

Catalogue of Admiralty Charts and Publications (NP131)
A comprehensive reference in graphical and textual form of all Admiralty charts and publications worldwide, listed by region. The catalogue gives full details for each chart and publication, including details of all digital products and Admiralty distributors worldwide. Updated and published annually. (Full coverage of ENC electronic charts is listed separately in an online catalogue.
Paper Chart Maintenance Record (NP133A)

How to Keep Your Admiralty Charts Up-to-Date (NP294)
Good chart management practice with step-by-step updating techniques using Admiralty Notices to Mariners.
IALA Maritime Buoyage System (NP735)
Describes the Cardinal and Lateral Buoyage system with diagrams and written explanations of the five types of marks: lateral, cardinal, isolated danger, safe water and special marks.
Ocean Passages for the World (NP136)
This classic volume on ocean voyage planning has routeing details for powered and sailing vessels; individual chapters on each of the world’s oceans; advice on winds, weather, climate, seasonal factors, currents, swell, ice hazards; and the shortest routes between ports and important positions.
Symbols and Abbreviations Used on Admiralty Charts, Chart 5011 (INT 1)
This convenient A4 book details Admiralty and INT paper chart symbols in full colour with information on hydrography; topography; navigational aids and services; abbreviations of principal terms shown on English and foreign charts; and general information on the content of Admiralty paper charts.
The Mariner's Handbook (NP100)
A compendium of essential maritime information on charts; operations and regulations; tides, currents and characteristics of the sea; basic meteorology; navigation in ice, hazards and restrictions to navigation; and the IALA Buoyage system.

ADMIRALTY ASTRONIMICAL PUBLICATIONS

Almanacs
The Astronomical Almanac
The Astronomical Almanac contains a wide variety of both technical and general astronomical information. The book is a worldwide resource for fundamental astronomical data and the flagship publication of the Nautical Almanac Office at the US Naval Observatory and Her Majesty's Nautical Almanac Office at the UKHO including contributions from astronomical experts worldwide. It contains positions of the Sun, Moon and planets to milli-arcsecond precision, positions of minor planets and planetary satellites for each year together with data relating to Earth orientation, time-scales and coordinate systems. Phenomena including eclipses of the Sun and Moon, sunrise/set, moonrise/set and twilight times are provided as well as fundamental astronomical reference data for stars and stellar systems, observatories and related astronomical constants and techniques.
The Nautical Almanac - NP314
The Nautical Almanac contains tabulations of the Sun, Moon navigational planets and stars for use in the determination of position at sea from sextant observations. In addition, it gives times of sunrise, sunset, twilights, moonrise and moonset, phases of the Moon and eclipses of the Sun and Moon for use in the planning of observations. All the necessary interpolation and altitude correction tables are provided as well as pole star tables and diagrams and notes for the identification of stars and planets. Information on standard times for most countries around the world is provided. A concise set of sight reduction tables and sight reduction form are also included.
The Air Almanac - NP321
This publication, produced to the requirements of the Royal Air Force, presents in tabular and graphical form astronomical data required for the planning of activities, in particular aircraft movements, where the amount of daylight, the duration of twilight, and the position and phase of the Moon are important. It replaces The UK Air Almanac which last appeared in 1997. This annual volume contains data for the times of rising and setting of the Sun and Moon, as well as the twilight times for latitudes between North 72°: and South 60°. Graphical methods for determining this information at altitudes of up to 60,000 feet and at high latitudes are also provided, as are standard times for many places around the world.
The Star Almanac - NP321
This almanac contains positions of the Sun, Polaris and selected bright stars in a form which is convenient for land surveyors who use astronomical observations to determine their geographical position or direction to true north. This edition includes a CD-ROM which contains the almanac in pdf format and the coefficients representing the positions of the Sun and stars in ASCII files.
Sight Reduction Tables
Rapid Sight Reduction Tables - NP303
Volume 1 contains the altitude to 1' and true azimuth to 1° for the seven stars most suitable for finding your position with a sextant, for the complete range of latitudes and hour angles of Aries. The latest edition is that for epoch 2010.0, published at the end of March 2008. This publication is aimed at the navigator using astro-navigation and provides the optimum selection of stars for a three-star fix.
Volume 2 and Volume 3 contain values of the altitude to 1' and azimuth to 1° for integral degrees of declination from 29° north to 29° south, for the complete range of latitudes and for all hour angles at which the zenith distance is less than 95° (97° between latitudes 70° and the poles) providing for sights of the Sun, Moon and planets. Volume 2 covers latitudes between 0° and 40°. Volume 3 covers latitudes between 39° and 89°.
NavPac/Compact Data
NavPac/Compact Data - DP330
DP330 is a reprint of TSO's NavPac and Compact Data 2006-2010. It is the first time this software and book combination has been published by the UKHO. NavPac runs on a PC under Microsoft Windows providing the navigator with a simple and efficient method of calculating his position at sea using sextant observations. It also provides rise/set times and positions of the Sun, Moon, planets and navigations stars for planning astronomical sights. It can also calculate great circle and rhumb line tracks.
Astronomical Phenomena
Astronomical Phenomena
This publication provides a summary of astronomical events several years ahead of the publication of the corresponding edition of the astronomical Almanac. It contains Section A of The astronomical Almanac, namely, the phases of the Moon, eclipses of the Sun and Moon, principal occulations, planetary phenomena, elongations and magnitudes of the planets, times of sunrise/set, moonrise/set and times of civil, nautical and astronomical twilights in addition to the equation of time, the declination of the Sun and the Greenwich Hour angles of the pole stars Polaris and Sigma Octantis.
