At our head office in Aberdeen we stock the complete world folio of Admiralty BA
paper charts. These are kept fully corrected in line with the Notice to Mariner
information by our fully trained chart-correcting department. This ensures our stock
is sold containing the latest navigational safety information.
We also receive requests from a variety of sources to audit chart folios and correct
these up to date as required. This process is handled on a case by case basis and
involves the following stages:
- Chart Examination (Nominal fee applicable)
- A Report based on the following rules is prepared and sent to client advising outcome
of investigation:
- New editions are supplied where the chart has been replaced, withdrawn or superseded.
- Chart marked for replacement if greater than 6 corrections are required.
- Chart marked for correction if less than 6 corrections are required.
- Client advises on action i.e. correct folio, return charts.
- It is easy to keep charts updated. Receipt of data is automatic and records are
kept of the correction status. Special reports may be printed off which meet the
requirements of a port-state audit.
- Charts may be corrected while the vessel is at sea at convenient times. This avoids
the rush to correct charts while the vessel is in port, before the next sailing,
which can result in mistakes. 'little but often' chart correction procedures ease
compliance with STCW requirements.
- Saves manpower
- The chart correction process has always been difficult but our internal chart correctors
use a specially designed chart correction kit, which ensures a high standard of
correction.
- The kit is supplied in a hand crafted wooden box containing some 60 individual stamps
that ensure every correction is identical. We have produced and supplied over 1,000
sets so far and these are now available from our warehouse in Aberdeen.
- The kit can be purchased online from our products catalogue.
